Returning to Hobbies

Tonight I vegged out watching the Olympics after uploading some software I wrote to a client. I also got back to researching the arcade cabinet project I've been planning. I was looking at some arcade cabinet plans I liked for sale, but then I found them on the CD that came my Project Arcade book I got for Christmas. I'm glad I didn't spend the money because I'm not to thrilled with the plans. I've got a basic design based on the Neo Geo cabinet, but pulls features from home brew projects I like. This weekend I hope to build a mock up out of cardboard to get a feel for the size and shape of the cabinet. I also should be purchasing the keyboard encoder and some buttons to start work on wiring and programming.

Tonight I learned that coin doors are stupid expensive and 4 player doors are hard to come by. Due to finance strains this may become a two year project. If I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right the first time.
